Abstract
Thirty four genetically diver se lines of f oxage sorghum were selected from forage lines group which imported from Pood and Agricultural Organization of United Nation, plus two local v a r i e t i e s sudangrass and sorgo. One of the aims of t h i s study is t o estimate the phenotypic c o e f f i c i e n t of v a r i a b i l i t y (P.C .V. ) , genotypic coefficient of v a r i a b i l i t y (G.C .V. ) , h e r i t a b i l i t y in broad sense (h2 ) obtained from ana l y s i s of variance , Genetic advance (G.a,) under selection when the top 5% population was se1eci;ed and phenotypic correlations, of forage yield and its components. The second important purpose ia t o study the response of sorghum cultivars to three levels of nitrogen f e r t i l i z a t i o n (15, 30 and 45 Kg, M./feddan) . A f i e l d trials were conducted a t the Pam of the Saliha Agricultural Kesearch Station during 1976 and 1977 seasons. In each season the yield t r i a l included two experiments , one under space planting ( in single plant) and the other under dense planting (in drilled -rows). The experiments were laidout in split plot desi? g with nitrogen levels as main plot treatment and the 36 c u l t i v a r s as sub-plot.
