Abstract

Mosquito-borne disease a f f l i c t both developing and developed Pations. In most of the world, the ancient scourages of manklnd-malaria, filarlas i s , yellow fever and dengue fever, continue to lhit progress. Unfortunately, the persistance problem i s extremely the major problem in the f i e l d of mosquito control, so i t is very importtat t o soarch for new mosquito-cides and t o take into considerat ion the whole s i t u a t i o n of the surrounding environment . The present study cons i s t s of two p a r t s , the 1-s.-t p a r t deals with : 1- The t o x i c i t i e s of decamethrh, DIIT, and malathion against -Cu1.e~p ipiens pipiens (L.) ( t e s t e d i n s e c t s ) , Cambus la aff bis (predaceous f i s h ) and Clams -lazera (an edible f i s h ) . 2- The effect of the tested insecticides against acetyl-. , cholinest erase and ATPas e enzymes. The second parts deals with : 1- Degradation and distribution of malathion and decamethrin between f i s h , water and sedlment . 2- Side effects of the values on some body contents such as protein, lipid’and some minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and sodium. The resulta of the f i r s t part indicated that : 1- Decamethrin was the most toxic compound as a mosquito larvicide with LC50 of 0.002 ppm, while DDT was the least toxic one h t h i s respect. Against Gambusia a f f i n l s , decamethrin was superior also in this respect while malathion had the lowest adverse effect. Concerning the t o x i c i t i e s of the tested compounds against Clarus lazera, decamethrin was the most harmful cornpond against both the small and the large fish while malathion was the l e a s t toxic one. Based on the toxicity index and the oufoty factor the resulta revealed that decamethrh was the most harmful compound against both Gmbusia affhis and Clams lazera f i s h while malathion was r e l a t i v e l y the l e a s t toxic one. 2- The results showed that the treatment with malathion resulted in 85% Fnhibition of the AChE activity a f t e r 48 hours, but the enzyme recovered its complete a c t i v i t y after 14 days of treatment, while DDT and decamethrh did not d i r e c t l y a f f e c t the a c t i v i t y of the enzyme. 3- Concerning the effect of the tested compounds against Pase(asc)t i v i t y , the in vitro assay i l l u s t r a t e d that 150 ppm of IIUT caused 40% inhibition of the enzyme a c t i v i t y , while decamethrin and malathion did not show such effect. In case of in vivo study all tested compounds did not affect the enzyme a c t i v i t y.
