Abstract

Iron deficiency continues to be the most common specific nutritional deficiencyall over the world.Many health workers assume that anemia regardless of etiology predisposes to infection. However, the effect of iron deficiency anemia upon susceptibility to infection is still debatable.The present work was designed to study nitroblue-tetrazolium(NBT)dye reduction test in patients with iron deficiency anemia as an indication of phagocytic function of neutrophils in these patients before and after treatment.
