Abstract
t h i s work is t o study the effect of ploughing operation, on some physical properties, root development, growth, yield and yield components of cotton in clay soils. The study was conducted at Sakha Agricultural 0 - 0 -Research Station, (locction 31 30 N, 30 45 E) which represents the Northern-Middle Delta Region. Two experiments were carried out during 1975 and I976 growing seasons, Cotton (Giza 67) was planted i n the two years. A11 agricultural operations were the same practied i n the farm excluding the ploughing treatments as i l l u s t r a t e d as follows: Treatment A: ordinary ploughing t o a 15 cm. w i t h ohise L cultiv&or (control), Treatment 5: using the subsoiler to 45 cm. s o i l depth. Treatment C: using the subsoiler t o 30 cm. s o i l depth. The subsoiling was done before surface ploughing. Treatment D: using the chisel deep t o 30 cn.
