Abstract Among 547 patients attendjng the Out Paeien% Clinic -of Obstelm&& and Gynaen~ology, Tanta Ulziversitg Hospital dming the period January 197’1 -March 1977, 72 4 cases of dysfunctional uterine bleodillg were encountered (13016%).2) The higiiest incidence of dyefunctional uterine bleebelongs to the age group of 40-44 years. 1 high incidence of dysfunctional uterine bleeding i s found among n’ulUgravidae (13.95 $1 and those of high gram 3) The clinical varietidb encountered in our patients were manometrorrhag& (W* 19 $1, menorrhagia (3023%) rnetmrrhagia (13.95 %) and polymenorrhea (lL63 $1.4) The common gynaecologicaj. oonditions met with in aesociation with dy.&wctional uterine bleeding were cystorectocelo, chronic carvicitis and bulky uterus, . 5 The histopathology of the endooletrim i n cases of dysfunctilonal. uterine bleeding showed poo1iferati.v~ changes ;ia 48.8 % of cases, secretory changes in 6.98 % , cystic glandular hgperplasb in 23055 % ,adenoma$ous hyperplasia in 4.65%; adenomyosis and proliferative endometrium in 2.33 %; adenorsyosis and cystio glandular hyperplasi. in 4.656.In one case,&stopathological study of the endometrium proved that the bleeding was mt dysfunotional but postabortive bf ceding. |
