Abstract Intraocular pressure (IOP) is defined as the pressure exerted by the content of the eye against the containing wall111. Average IOP ranges from 10-20 mmHgl2] with a diurnal variation of 2-3 mmHg1 . This pressure is maintained by active secretion of aqueous humor in the ciliary body and the diffusion and ultrafiltration or :;erum into the posterior chanber of the eye . Aqueous humor is formed from the choroid plexus in the posterior chamber elf. eye at a rate of about 1.3 pl/min and flow through the pupil into the anterior chamber to reach the angle between the iris and cornea. The aqueous humor returns through the trabecular network and the canal of Schlemm to the venous circulation . |
