Abstract Seberal mathods habe been proposed to assess the severity of aortic insufficiency, using both pulsed and continuous wave Doppler echocardiography. In this study we tried to verify the effect of concomitant mitral stenosis on assessing the degree of aortic regurgitation obtained by pulsed and continuous wave Doppler echocardiography. aortic root angiography was used as a gold standard for semiquantitative grading of aortic regurgitation. for this reason thirty seven patients (14 male, 23 female with the age ranged from 12-46 y. with a mean 24.8) were subjected to full history and clinical examination, twelve leads electrocardiogram, plain X-Ray to the chest and heart, echo-Doppler study and finally cardiac catheterization. |
