Abstract
Diarrhea in children is one of the predominant causes of morbidity and mortality in egypt. The present work has been carried out in order to study the incideence of shigella infection, the prevelance of various shigella serotypes and their sensitivity to various types of antibiotics in children suffering from diarrhea at tanta. The material of the present study consisted of 150 childern suffering from mild, moderate and severe diarrhea who were attending tanta university hospitals and tanta general hospital out-patients pediatric clinics.
