Abstract
This work vas carried out on 30 patients of both sex who were scheduled for different elective surgical procedures that would require tracheal intubation in order to investigate the hernodynamic and sympatho-adrenal changes following laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation and to compare the effects of sublingual Nifedipine and Fentanyl on attenuating or blunting these changes. The ages of these patients vere ranged from 21-45 years and the body weights vere ranged from 54-80 kg. The thirty patients were randomly allocated into three equal groups : ten patients each : Group I (Control qrou~) : - This group received a placebo ( 5 ml 5% Dextrose in water intravenously) 4 minutes before induction.
