Abstract
Chest r a d i o g r a p h y (P.A and L a t e r a l ) p l a y s an i m p o r t a n t r o l e i n e a r l y d e t e c t i o n and l o c a t i o n of pulmonary and media s t i n a l s e c o n d a r i e s . Although tomography is more s e n s i t i v e t h a n p l a i n c h e s t r a d i o g r a p h s For d e t e c t i o n of small parenchymal a b n o r m a l i t i e s , t h i s i n c r e a s e i n s e n s i t i v i t y may be a c h i e v e d a t t h e p r i c e of d e c r e a s e d s p e c i f i t y . A s i m i l a r problem h a s been noted w i t h computed tomogr a p h i c s c a n n i n g o f t h e l u n g f i e l d s f o r d e t e c t i o n o f metastases I n f a c t computed tomographic s c a n n i n g p e r m i t s a more complete e v a l u a t i o n o f t h e mediastinum t h a n p l a i n r a d i o g r - aphy o r c o n v e n t i o n a l tomography. The g o a l of our work was t o examine t h e c h e s t of p a t i e n t s s u f f e r i n g from o r s u s p e c t e d of having n e o p l a s t i c c o n d i t i o n f o r secondary d e p o s i t s , d e s c r i b i n g t h e i r appear a n c e s and c o r r e l a t e t h e r a d i o l o g i c a l p r e s e n t a t i o n s w i t h t h e i r o r i g i n a l c o n d i t i o n .
