Abstract Shoulder pain is a common complain in medical practice, it arises from a wide varity of abnormalities that may be due to extrinsic or intrinsic causes, pain in the region of the shoulder arising from cervical nerve root irritation. cervical spondylosis or neuro-vascular compression at the thoracic outlet, may mimic shoulder pain. Also pain in the shoulder may be referred from pulmonary disease, myocardial disease. biliary disease. or any pathological process on either side of diaphragmI ll.Localized shoulder girdle pain may be due to diseases affecting gleno-humeral joint, diseases of subacromial region. diseases of acromio-clavienlar joint and diseases of sterno-clavicular jointi2’.Plain radiographs are very useful to detect several abnormalities such as os teo -arthritis of gleno- humeral t and acromio-clavicular joint, complete rotator cuff tear and calcific tendinitisi3]. |
