Abstract
Ten hypopharyngeal tumors involved the p o s t - cficoid region, four turners were i n the pyrifom sinus and six tumors in poster0 - l a t e r a l wall, Squainous c e l l carcin~ma constituted 100% of cases, 80% of cases bePonged to stage I11 and PV of the !!Xk4 Stwing System, Radical radiation therapy was given at a tumor dose of 68 Cg. in Six weeks, For palliative therapy a dose of 48 Gy i n four weeks was given, Compansators was used to overcome the change i n body contour and the a i r gap r e s u l t i n g from oblique bean incidence, Dysphagia was iinproved In 85% of caaesl with 30% (6 cases) one year survival: four with postcricoid carcinoma and two with postero - l a t e r & pharyngeal w a l l carcinoma, The best results of radio therapy were i n early pos tcoicoid carcinoma.
