Abstract
This is a retrospective study cairied out at radialien Oncology department National Cancer Institute, Cairo University on 81 cases of retinoblastonla during the period between January 1985 and December 1997.The median age of patients at presentation was 3.15 years with a range between 0.17- 11 years.In this study male to female ratio was 1.25-1 Regarding the laterality of the tumour, the tumour was unilateral in 50 patients (6 1.7%) while 3 1 patients (38.3%) presented with bliateral tumor.This study comprise 8 patients (9.9%) with positive family history and 73 patients 90.1% withe negative family history .The cardinal symptoms at presentation were change of colour of the pupil in (54.3%) of patients (44181), and swelling of eye in (49.4%) of patients (4018 1) and squint in (7.4%) of patients (618 1). and gradual loss of vision in (24.7%) of patients (20/81), and rednes,; in (12.3%) of patients( 1018 1) .All patients of our study presented with advanced stage disease.Surgical treatment was done for (77.7%) of patients (63181) . Adjuvant radiotherapy were received by (46.9%) of patients and adjuvant chemotherapy were received by (39.5%) of patients (32181).
