Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the sedative effects of propofol, midazolam and when combined with nalbuphine on vital signs, blood glucose, triglycerides and plasma cortisol. Ninety patients were subjected to the study, their age 7F ranged from 27 to 67 years and duration of sedation postoperative about eight hours. All patients were scheduled for major neurosurgical or non neurological surgery. They were divided into four groups according to the drug used for sedation; (propofol, rnidazolam, propofol-nalbuphine or midazolam-nalbuphine) .- Group I ’Propofol group”: It included thirty patients, sedated postoperatively with propofol. - Group 11 ’Midazolam group”: It included thirty patients, sedated postoperatively with midazolam.5-Cr b-7. - Group IZI 4ropofol and Nalbuphine”: It included f i f 5 patients, sedated postoperatively with propofol and nalbuphine.week - Group N ’Widazolam and Nalbuphine”: It included fifth patients, sedated postoperatively with rnidazolam and nalbuphine.
