Abstract

Iiyperprolactinemia is responsible for a variety of disorders including menstrual disorders, infertility and galactorrhea. The secretory rythms of PRL, the variability of its production, its different sources and different moieties have made the problem of hyperprolactinemia more difficult. The aetiology of hyperprolactinemia may be physiological, pharmacological, pathological or idiopathic.Dopamine has always been described as a PRL inhibiting factor. Bromocriptine and lisuride are the commonest drugs used to treat hyperprolactinemic cycle and fertility disorders. However, therapy with bromocriptine or lisuride may fail to acheive the desired result because of side effects and low tolerability. The aim of this work was to elicit any correlation between serum dopamine and serum PRL in hyperprolactine, rnic women and to compare between the clinical effects and side effects of lisuride and bromocriptine in hyperprolactinemic women. This study was performed on control and patients groups. The control group consisted of 27 euprolactinernic female subjects.
