Abstract Epilepsy was documented as a neurological disorder , but nowadays , there are accumlating evidences that it is a behavioral - cognitive disorder as well .This study was conducted on 60 freshly diagnosed epilepti children (43 boys and 17 girls ) suffering from idiopathic generalized tonic - clonic seizures to evaluate the effects of AED’s on their cognitive functions and behavior .The mean age at presentation was 10 f 4 y (range 6 to 14yr)All children were attendants of Pediatric Neurology Inpatients wards and Outpatient Clinic of Pediatric Department ,Tanta University Hospital . Diagnosis of epilepsy was based on clinical grounds . EEG recordings . plain X - ray skull and brain C.T. scannings . |
