Abstract Conventional contrast media are salts of tri-iodinated acids with the cation sodium, meglumine or both. Most of its associated problems such as the pulse and blood pressure changes and other reactions, specially pain in angiography, are caused by its hyperosmolarity, the electrical charge of their ions and certain chemotoxic properties. In this study, with conventional contrast media urografin and angiografin, the pulse and blood pressure changes and other reactions encountered were more with urografin than those with angiografin which was confirmed by experimental study on isolated heart frogs. |
