Abstract The study of normal and abnormal foetal growth and development has begun with ultrasound which is the most accurate method for studing prenatal development that does not presently involve known hazards to the foetus an providesus with useful clinical information about growth rates throughout pregnancy. The role is to identify and understand factors both helpfull and injurious to human foetal development so that obstetricians and pediatricians may be accurate in determining that a given foetus is born at the right time, at the right size and in the right way without any problems for him and the mother. The value of ultrasonography have been thorougly investigated in evaluation of foetal growth and maturity Also the use of ultrasound techniques for collecting data that may be used to calculate and estimate date of delivery The most parameters populary used are the biparietal diameter, femoral length, chest, head and abdominal circumference. Detection of the distal femoral epiphysis and placental grading are of great importance in evaluation foetal growth and maturity. |
