Abstract The present study included the analysis of 20 cases of brain metastases from solid tumours seen between September, 1987 to December, 1988, treated at Radiation Therapy Unit of Tanta University. In our study, we aimed at evaluating the role of radiation therapy in management of brain metastases. Carcinoma of the bronchus and breast were the commonest lesions that gave rise to intracranial metastases and were equally represented 20%. Headache general weakness were the most common symptoms 80% followed by nausea and vomiting, while hemiparesis /paralysis was the most common sign 60% followed by papilloedema 25%. All our cases were diagnosed by CT scan. |
