Abstract Recently, zirconia and various doped zirconia refractories attract the attention of many investigators due to their great application as a potential high refractory materials capable of withstanding high temperature, chemical and mechanical resistant as well as their great application in rockets top cones. Preparation of doped zirconia ceramic bodies were accurately prepared with asnew trend from different zirconia- origins and different dopants were also utilized in different proportions (mole%). The prepared doped zirconia bodies were subjected to a careful course of sintering technique to enhance the doping mechanism, modify the properties of the final obtained refractory bodies. In this respect, the following behaviours can be summarized: 1. X-ray diffraction analysis gave the optimum conditions to produce cubic zirconia solid solution in a pure state. The deviation from this conditions (i.e, more sintering) leads cubic zirconia solid solution to undergo partial destabilization to monoclinic zirconia, 6 mole % La20g-doped zirconia sintered at 1350•‹C/3hrs does not form fluorite-type cubic solid solution. |
