Abstract The present investigation aimed at studying the ecology and biology of some soil invertebrates in four chosen sites, of different vegetations, within the Nile Delta : These sites are : Site A : El- Kanater El-Khayria - orange orchard . Site B : El-Kanater El-Khayria-banana orchard . Site C : Damanhour, El-Taufikiya-banana orchard . Site D : Rashid-orange orchard . The results and conclusions can be summarized as follows : 1- Species Composition :- The total number of soil animal individuals in site D is the highest of all other sites . However, the total number of oribatid mites is the highest in site A . But the total number of the Collembola is the highest in site D . Morever, the number of rest of insects in site B is the highest of all sites . 2- Faunal Composition :- The faunal analysis of the dominant species revealed seven dominant species in sites B and C but six ones in site A and five dominant species in site D .- However, Subdominant species are four species in site A; nine species in site B; seven species in site C and eight Subdominant species were found in site D. Moreover, rare species in site A are 45 species; 39 species in site B; 41 species in each of sites C and D. |
