Abstract The present thesis is concerned with an investigation of electrochemical studies of some aryEi.~.cnenicotinichydrazides and arylideneisonicotinichydrazides .The thesis cmprises fc;ur chapters : Chapter I, includes a literature survey on the previous polarographic studies on organic compounds containing azomethine and hydrazide linkages at DME. Chapter TI, contains the experimental steps performed in the present work namely; preparation of solids and solutions, working procedures and measurements. Also, this part contains description of the instrumentations usdin the present studies which cover the electrochemical tools: (a) D.C. polarography, using dropping mercury electrode (DME) (b) Cyclic voltammetry, using hanging mercury DROP electrode (HMDE) (c) Differential pulse polarography, using static mercury dropping electrode (SMDE) hnd (d) Controlled potential coulometry, using mercury pool cathode . Cb.apter 111, includes the results of the electrochemical studies of some arylidene derivatives of nicotinichydrazides (series I) and isonicotinichydrazides in aqueous ethanolic buffer solutions (series 11) (pH 2-12) containing 10-20% (by volume) ethanol at DME. The polarograms of arylidonenicotonichydrazides (series I) deprived of NO 2 -group are similar, since in acidic and neutral solutions (pH’s< 7,5), it comprise a single 4-electron wave. |
