from the previous figures, tables and relationships concerning the different fabric properties such as, water permeability, thickness, dynamic load, tensile strength, elongation, tear resistance and puncture resistance, the following conclusions were reached.
1- Samples of polyester fibres have recorded the highest rates of thickness, tensile strength and the lowest rates of elongation ,water permeability and compressibility ratio compared to polypropylene and blended samples, whereas fibre type had insignificant effect on fabric puncture resistance.
2- With the increase of fabric weight its thickness tensile strength and puncture resistance increase but its elongation, water permeability and compressibility ratio decrease.
3- Needles penetration depth has an inverse relationship with fabric thickness and fabric permeability. It was also found that with the increase of penetration depth from 7 to 10 mm, fabric tensile strength and puncture resistance also increase but its elongation and compressibility ratio decrease and with the increase of penetration depth over 10 mm fabric tensile strength and puncture resistance decrease but compressibility ratio increase. but elongation and
4- Number of beats/min has an inverse relationship with fabric thickness, elongation, water permeability and compressibility ratio, but it has a direct relationship with fabric tensile strength and puncture resistance
5- Weave bonded samples have scored the highest rates of thickness, tensile strength and puncture resistance and the lowest rates of elongation and compressibility ratio, followed by calendered and needle punched fabrics It was found that bonding
technique had insignificant effect on fabric water permeability 6- Nonwoven fabric made of finer fibres (6 denier) have a lower elongation, permeability and compressibility ratio and a higher puncture resistance compared to fabrics made of larger diameter fibres (10 denier) It was also found the fibre count had insignificant effect on fabric thickness and tensile strength.
Recommendations
1-The researcher recommends that ministry of industry gives more attention to local manufacturing of geotextiles in different fields and not to depend on importing them and also to prepare
special Egyptian standards for industrial textiles. 2- The researcher recommends more researches be made on
industrial textiles specially in civil engineering sector as there are a variety of geotextile applications concerning this field 3-The researcher recommends that scientific textiles
specifications to be prepared for fabrics used in civil engineering sector to make it easier to reach the appropriate specifications of the product end use.
4- The researcher recommends that more researches should be done on geotextiles fabrics using new fibres and new construction techniques
5- The researcher recommends that, there should be a continuous
co-operation between ministry of industry and textile
department in order to develop the researches made in the Faculty of Applied Arts especially in civil enginnering sector. 6- The researcher recommends that the produced geotextile fabrics should be applied in road paving sector.
