Abstract

Abu Madi El Qar’a Gas field is a giant field located in the northern part of the Nile Delta, south-east of lake Burullos, 40 km north of Mansoura City. The field produces gas from two payzones in the Abu Madi Formation, level III and II.
The aim of the study is to evaluate the hydrocarbon potentialities, structural setting and to define the environment of deposition and to delineate the geometry and lithofacies distribution laterally and vertically for Abu Madi Reservoir sands. This has been achieved through integration of 210 seismic data with the borehole and geophysical data,
The area is located in a subsiding basin generated by NW and NE trending extensional faults. The area is strongly affected by complicated network of listrie normal fault soled in a decollement level as a deep as about 4,0 seconds TWT in seismic lines. The major detachment fault, probably a ramp/flat listric detachment, on which the listric fault merge in depth, can be followed beyond the considered area.
Detailed stratigraphic correlation together with sand- shale clay lithofacies triangles allowed in the construction of lithofacies maps for each reservoir level. The depositional model showed that the level III sands have deposited in a braided-fluvial distributary channels and fluvial- dominate delta environment whereas the level II sands most probabl have been deposited in a river-dominated delta environment.
