Abstract

In this thesis, the analysis of induction motor fed from sinusoidal supply, simulated in four- quadrant operation, has been studied. The direct torque control is used to analyze the motor performance under the different modes of operation such as, normal operation, dynamic braking, plugging, and reverse mode. The DTC is similar to the vector control, but the motor and converter can be considered as one part, in addition that the time of response is less than the vector control. The thesis presents also the modeling and implementation of direct torque control scheme. The simulation analysis is based on SIMULINK toolbox provided by MATLAB programming package for direct torque control of three-phase induction motor in the four-quadrant operations. Moreover a practical realization of a direct torque control has been constructed and tested. The practical experiments include the necessary compatible hardware interface circuits and software programs.
The compatible hardware interface circuits are:
1- Three-phase inverter circuit.
2- Delay circuit.
3- Isolation circuit.
4- Voltage and current monitoring circuits (sensors).
5- Micro controller interface circuit.
6- Three-phase induction motor.
DTC method has been operated in first and second quadrant only due to the limitation of the used micro controller, which has limited application.
To operate the induction machine in the four-quadrant a PWM technique is used.
All software is based on assembly programming language of 89C52 and 89C52 and 89C51Microcontroller.
