Abstract Three types of different linseed oil-alkyd resins were prepared via monoglyceride method. The obtained alkyd resins were modified to produce epoxidized alkyd resins, uralkyd resins, amine alkyd resins, and alkyd emulsion resins. The prepared alkyd resins were analyzed by IR and H’NMR. The prepared modified alkyd resins were analyzed by IR. The metal coated film properties of modified alkyd resins were compared with those of unmodified alkyd resins. It was observed that the coating films of modified alkyd resins have better in drying properties, mechanical properties, viscosity, chemical resistance and thermal stability than those of unmodified alkyd resins. The flammability properties of the paper coated films for the brominated epoxidized alkyd resins are better than those of unmodified epoxidized alkyd resins to be fire retardant. |
