Abstract

Insecticides are chemical agents which are now utilized on a broad scale for agricultural and domestic purposes. The increased use of these chemicals in the modern world has led to much geater emphasis on the possibility of serious environmental contamination with novel hazards to man and livestock. Consequently, the present work was performed in an attempt to evaluate histological, histochemical and biochemical changes occurred in two important functioning organs (liver and kidney) following oral administration of two types of insecticides in different doses and periods as well as the reversibility of such changes after arrest of administration, The first one was malathion (an example of organophosphorus compound) while the second one was fenvalerate (a new pyrethroid-type insecticide).
The animals used were 110 male rabbits, weighing from 1250 to 1400 gm. They were divided into three main groups.
Group I (control)Composed of 30 rabbits that were served as control group for both malathion and fenvalerate treated rabbits and received distilled water which is used as a solvent fcr insecticides.
