Abstract

It is well known that chronic alcoholism impairs reproductive function in human and experimental animals , but it is still a matter of discussion which site is the most susceptible (C) the deleterious effects of alcohol and how the disorder spreads along the pituitary gonadal axis . Moreover, detailed morphological studies on the effect of alcohol on the pituitary and testis are rare. Similarly , studies on alcoholic hearts using patients and animals have led to contradictory conclusions. This study was performed to identify and characterize the morphological changes that might occur in the pituitary gland and testis of alcohol-treated male albino rats . In the same animal models , the associated histological ind biochemical changes oF the cardiac muscle were also studied. The material of this study included 85 male albino rats aged 3 months and weighft’d 300-400 grams . Rats were divided into 35 control and 50 alcohol-treated rats . The alcohol - treated rats (50 rats) were given either 10% or 15% ethyl alcohol . They were classified into 5 equal groups (10 rats each) according to the duration of alcohol intake (15 days , 3 , 5, 7 , and 10 months)
