Abstract The field of trace elements metabolism has grown rapidly the past few years, particularly after the development novel techniques as the atomic absorption Dtrophotometry which have allowed the reliable ‘asurements of several trace elements in tissues of several Zinc and copper are involved in cell and tissue growth, plays an important role in DNA and protein synthesis and intimately involved with copper as cofactors in several mportant enzyme systems (David, et al., 1984)In recent years evidence was brought about the lnportance of zinc in the mechanisms of certain processes ring at molecular level i.e the regulation of ransmembranal transport and the processes of immune :egulation (Chandra and Dayton, 1982) Zinc prevents induced histamine release from mast cells pil, 1976). This effect of zinc may be due to rlizatio11 of mast cell membranes by decreasing membrane peroxidation (Di-Toro et al., 1987)Copper is involved in nerve myelination, in synthesis metabolism of several steroid hormones and also is |
