Abstract

HeJicobacter pylori infection has a wide spread distribution, but the prevalence varies between developed and developing countries.
Infection is usually acquired during childhood. In England 3.5% were infected in the first decade, in contrast in developing countries such as Algeria Ivory coast and Gambia 45-90% were infected during first decade.
To define the epidemiological character of a disease, one needs a diagnostic test that is inexpensive, reliable and readily available across a broad spectrum of population. The development of new non-invasive reliable serological tests has opened the door for epidemiological exploration.
The objective of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of H.
pylori infection among apparently healthy Egyptian infants ^md children living in Minouflya governorate and belonging to various social classes, also to assess the risk factors influencing the prevalence ofHeiicobac^er Pylori infection, and to study the effect ofH. pylori on growth of the studied c^’ses.
A Series of three hundered (300) apparently healthy infants and children Attending primary health care centers and basic schools were included in our study, were assayed for the presence of Anti- Helicobacter pylori antibody(IgG) measured by enzyme linked immunsorbant microassayed test (ELISA)and studied for the effect of age, sex socioeconomic background and other risk factors who influencing the prevalence ofH. pylori infection Their ages ranging from 1 month to 13 years. Serum Samples were j withdrawn from the above cases and assayed for the presence of Anti JHelicobacter pylori antibody
