Abstract

This work was undertaken to demonstrate the effect of lead on human chromosomes m persons occupationally exposed to lead. Also to study the effect of lead nitrate alone and lead nitrate conjugated with chlorophyllin on bone marrow chromosomes in mice.
IN VITRO STUDY:-
Human lymphocyte cultures were used for cytogenetics Blood Samples were obtained from 2 groups of persons.
Group I (Group of lead exposed workers):
Twenty workers occupationally exposed to lead were considered for study. The age of workers ranged from 1 to 20 years. This group was further subdivided into 4 subgroups.
Subgroup 1: Included 5 workers occupationally exposed to lead for periods ranged from 1-5 years.
Subgroup 2: Included 5 wwkers occupationally exposed to lead for periods ranged from 6-10 years.
Subgroup 3: Included 5 workers occupationally exposed to lead for periods ranged from 11-15 years.
Subgroup 4: Included 5 workers occupationally exposed to lead for periods ranged from 16-20 years.
