Abstract

Liver disease arising from exposure to heavy metals plays a special role in our life because of the possibility of its prevention. Liver diseases resulting from occupational exposure to lead are more intense than those resulting from exposure in the general population./This work was done for studying and evaluating some histological and histochemical changes in rat liver following oral administration of lead as well as the reversibility of such changes after arrest of administration and also the effect of Ca Na2 EDTA ( an example ofchelating agents ) used in its treatment.
In the present study forty two adult female albino rats were used, each weighting from 180 to 200 gm. Strict care and hygiene were observed to keep them in normal and healthy conditions. The animals were divided into two main groups, one is used as control and other group was given lead and divided into two subgroups.
