Abstract

Generally, the main objective of the present study are to dileneate the subsurface geological structures, study the petrography of Alam El Buieb-D1 reservior rock study the effect of the structures and lithology on the distribution of petrophysical parameters and eveluate the hydrocarbon potentialities in relation to subsidence history thermal maturity and geological evolution.
The objective have been achieved by the integration of all analyses for including the composite and electric logs of 5 wells, 20 migrated seismic lines, core samples for two wells and kerogen types of some wells.
Generally, the framework grains of the Alam El Buieb-D1 sandstone entirely are made up of quartz (quartzarenite). Quartz grains are mainly monocrystalline with few polycrystalline with few polcrystalline. Roundness generally, ranges from subrounded to rounded in all samples. The extinction of the quartz grains are uniform with few undulose or wavy. The boundries between quartz grains are mainly straight, concave-convex and sutured contacts. All samples mainly are well stored. The feldspar framework grains are not recorded in the investigated thin sections. Rock fragments in the investigated thin sections constitute only a few grains of the framework detritals. The several types of cement are present in pores between grains in quartz arenite facies.
