Abstract

Traditionally , endometrial evaluation requires invasive methods of investigations, usually biopsy or dilatation and curettage . With the advent of high resolution transvaginal sonography, interest in non invasive evaluation of suspected endometrial abnormalities has dramatically increased. The aim of this work was to review the role of transvaginal sonography and colour Doppler of the uterine artery compared to endometrial histopathology in assessment of endometrial diseases in patients with PMB . Transvaginal sonography is a well established method of screening for endornetrial abnormalities. Transvaginal sonography in patients with postmenopausal bleeding improves diagnostic accuracy and decision making. A total of 73 postmenopausal women were included in this study ,53patients with postmenopausal bleeding fulfilling the inclusion criteria previously determined , their ages ranged from 50 and 62 years and 20 women without any gynecological problem , their ages ranged from 48 to 59 years . All patients were recruited from those attending the outpatient clinic and emergency section of obstetrics and gynecology department , faculty of medicine menoufiya university Hospital .After collecting the data from the history of the patients and evaluating them clinically , TVUC examination was done to all patients and ET PI ,RI were measured. Dilatation and curettage D.C was done for all women in the study group only (53) women between 1-10 days following the sonographic examination . the histopathological finding were compared to the sonographic finding Et and uterine artery RI and PI the sensitivity and the specificity of
