Abstract

Hepatitis C is a disease that affects the liver. It is caused by a virus called the hepatitis C virus . the hepatitis C Virus is a major public health problem . it is a common and growing problem , often affecting persons with psychiatric and substance use problems.
About 200 million people worldwide are infected with HCV virus and 4.9 million of those are in the united states . Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a major health problem in Egypt. Approximately 10% of the population having evidence of past or chronic infection . Egypt has the highest prevalence of hepatitis C virus in the world , ranging from 6 to 28% with an average of approximately 13.8% in the general population.
Neuropsychiatric symptoms are widely reported in association with hepatitis C virus causes a decrease in quality of life even in the absence of major cognitive impairment
Depression is the most common psychological problem in HCV infected individuals. Depression has a significant effect on quality of life patient by which they loss their interest in life and ability to obtain good medical care. Some researchers found that patients with depressive symptoms has significantly impaired quality of life
