This study was conducted on 80 patients with suspicion of hydrocarbon poisoning came to MPCC in the period from 1st April 2004 to 31 March 2005
The aim of this study is to study the demographic pattern, Mode of poisoning , clinical manifestations, severity of poisoning & complications of hydrocarbons poisoned cases patients cases patients sheet was designed including:
- Age , sex, residence
- Complaint in patient own words
- Analysis of complaint as regards onset ,course ,duration
- Associated symptoms:
CNS:- Level of consciousness
GIT:- Nausea, Vomiting ,Abdominal Pain, … etc
Respiratory:- Cough, Chocking difficulty inbreathing
CVS:- Palpitation , cyanosis
- Circumstances of poisoning (Mode of poisoning, route of poisoning, place of poisoning , time of intake)
- Time of arrival to hospital
- Transportation
- Accompaniment
- Referral data (hospital, clinic& first aid done)
- Family and past history of similar condition
The clinical examination was done for each case including general& systematic examination (CNS, GIT, repiratory and CVS)
