Abstract Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is one of the common diseases in pediatric age group. It is an acquired disease caused principally due to formation of anti-platelets antibodies that cause destruction of these platelets in the reticuloendothelial system, mainly in the spleen. ITP occurs in acute, chronic or recurrent forms, acute cases those recover within 6 months, chronic cases those persist with thrombocytopenia for more than 6 months with of ordinary treatment and recurrent ITP that platelet count decrease after remission. We aimed in this study to find out some factors that might predict the prognosis of ITP, such as the clinical presentation, specific platelet factors (MPV and platelet count), response to treatment and analysis of P-glycoprotein .The study included fifteen cases with acute ITP; that followed up for 6 months, 10 known cases of chronic ITP and 15 healthy controls. All subjects included were subjected to :Full history taking and thorough clinical examination 2-The following investigations: |
