Abstract Knowledge of the penile and perineal anatomy is essential before undertaking the task of urethral reconstruction. The proper patient evaluation with use of contrast studies, as well as urethrocystoscope is mandatory in the preoperative work up of urethral stricture. Patients with strictures that are not amenable for endoscopic treatment or excision and primary anastomosis should be offered the use of tissue transfer techniques suitable to their stricrture. In this study, patients with long segment stricture of the bulbous urethra who had graft reconstruction had excellent result, with overall success rate of 93%. The placement of the graft ventral or dorsal was not associated with any additional morbidty in this selected group of patients. |
