Abstract Space occupying lesions or other intrinsic lesions of the brain as demyelination ,brain oedema or hydrocephalus, are likely to manifest with ocular signs in the form of visual impairment, ocular motility disorder ,papilloedema and visual field defects .among the ocular investigations, perhaps perimetry is of utmost importance .it points towards its probable topographical localization. through there are a number of reports of intracranial apace occupying lesions (SOL) in relation to visual pathways with characteristic field defects ,there are very few reports of distant supratentorial lesions producing field defects . in this study, various types of visual field defects were studied in patients of intracranial disorders An attempt was made to correlate various types of visual field defects on confrontation testing and automated perimetry (using Octopus 101 perimeter; program 32 and top strategy) with the findings of neuroimaging techniques as computed tomography CT and magnetic resonance imaging MRI in 32 patients of intracranial disorders. All the patients above the age of 14 years were subjected to complete neurological examination including investigations like CT scan, and MRI was performed whenever indicated |
