Abstract This study was done to make a comparison between Isoflurane, Sevoflurane and Desflurane in patients with Ischaemic Heart Disease and scheduled for elective non cardiac surgery. Desflurane and Sevoflurane being relatively new volatile anesthetics with low blood gas partition coefficient have the advantages of rapid control of the depth of anesthesia and rapid emergence and recovery than Isoflurane with relatively higher blood gas partition coefficient. This study was conducted on 60 adult patient known to have history of Ischemic Heart Disease ASA II and III without preexisting renal or liver failure and history of surgical coronary artery repair and ejection fraction <40% preoperatively. The body weight of the patients ranged from 60 to 90kgs, height from 155 to 175cm and the ages from 40 to 70 years old. |
