Abstract Homocysteine is a non essential amino acid which is a toxic amino acid when accumulated in the circulation and considered to be an important mediator in the pathogenesis of endothelial dysfunction in diabetes mellitus. Moreover, it might be associated with higher prevalence of microvascular and macrovascular complications of diabetes mellitus. The aim of the present work is to assess the effect of different modalities of therapy used in treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus on plasma homocysteine levels. |
