Abstract We intended to study different demographic, clinical, biochemical, ultrasonographic and endoscopic variables that can predict or associate with recurrence of variceal bleeding after successful endoscopic treatment of the first attack of variceal bleeding. To fulfill our aim we included one hundred patient presented to the Central Endoscopy Unit of Ain shams University Hospitals during the period from May 2005 to March 2006 .They presented by upper GIT bleeding in the form of hematemesis and /or melena. All patients, after successful endoscopic treatment of first attack of bleeding, are subjected to three months follow up for recurrence of variceal bleeding. |
