Abstract

Structure of the vein wall (Abdel-Kader G. 1982); The veins o,f the lower 1imb are considered medium sized veins , their atruoture will be mentioned in comparison with the medium sized arteries. 1- The veins nave theiner wall and wider lumen. 2- the muscular and elastic tissues are poorly developed. J- Tunica Intina (the innermost layer): It 1s thin and is not split. It is formed, of : a) endothelium (a single layer of endothelial cells) b) subendothelial layer of connective tissue. c) there is no internal elastic lamina. 4- Tunica media (the middle layer) I it is thin a. formed of a few smooth muscle fibres only. The media is leas develop ed ill the tributaries of the naphenous veins, so they are more liable to dilatat1on. 5- Tunica Adventitia (the outermost layer): it formed of losse oonnective tissue containing collegenous fibres only. It may contains smooth muscle fibres in larger veins. It contains blood vessels (Vasa vasorum) and abdominal sympathetic nerve fibres.
