المستخلص
The upgrading and redevelopment of a certain area within the urban structure should start with the analytical definition of its problems, so that these could be avoided in the new plan. In this regard, planners are usually confronted with the major task of identifying those problems. Because of the econmic, cimmercial and cultural significance of inner-city areas in general, and that of the Egyptian city in particular, such areas should be upgraded or redeveloped. This could enhance the adaptability of inner-city areas with the functional, economic, socio-cultural and technological changes that have influenced the urban structure of most cities in recent years.
