المستخلص

The problem of pollution is considered one of the most ltnportant problem because of its harmful affects on man’s practices and cnvironrnental system, Environmental scientists emphasize the cinportance of environmental knowledge to reduce the environinentaf pollution. Tne main objective of this study was to identify the e~wironniental knowledge of extensio~ai gents as resource persons in Rural co~nunities, atid to determine the factors related to envirot~metltakl nowledge. A well prepared questionnaire was used to collect the data needed, n random sample of 208 agricultural extension agents were selected and interviewed in Biella and Seedi Salem districts, kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. Simple Correiation and rkgression (Step-wise) technique used to test the relationship between the independent variables and the enviro~vnental knowledge. In addition to, percentages, frequencies, mean and standard deviation, were used to clarily the results and its irnplic a t1’ 011s. The research it~cluded five chapters: The first includes the introduction and the researcli problem, The second deals with the review and literature, while the third explains the inetl~odologyt, he Sourth presents the results and its discussions, and the fifth covers the cor~clusioa~nid recommendations. l’ire firding of the study may be su~~~marizaes dfo 1iows:- Satisfactio~w~it h life in rural community, information Follow-up of environmental field, the benefit from knowledge sources, participatio~i in local organizations, environmental participation and gel~eral knowledge are positively correlated with total environmetttal knowledge no relation was found between any of the other itdependent variables and total environmental ktlowledge. - Multiple regression analysis of total environmental knowledge on the 26 independent variables yielded a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.508. This means that regression equation explains obout 25.9% of the variance in total environmental knowledge. Partial regression coefficients show that seven independent variables make significant unique contributiot~sto the regression equation. - ’1’0 identify atid rank of the influential independent variables in explaining of variance in. total environmental knowledge, astepwise multiple regression techniqne was used. - ’I’lie step-wise solution yielded a reduced equation containing nine independent variable, theses nine independent variables combined are correlated with total envirotitiiental knowledge with a multiple co~rclatio~ci oefficier~t of 0.476. l’liis indeicates that those ilidcpctidcnt variables conibind explain about 2 1.9% of the
