Abstract Clinioa.l interpretation of !i0nio~.~pi;:: findiIlgs Both primary and secondary gLaucomaa are diV’ided into two major classifications based on the gonioscopic observation of an open angle or of a potential or actual angle closure. The \’Iideatangles are characteristically seen in myopia and 3phaki:(. Such eyes have a deep chamber end c:.flat iris plane tha.t makeB an a.ngle of about Q 45 witn the trabecular surface. As the chamber depth shallows. the angle narrous. There is both increasing relati ve pupillary block and increasing danger of angle <J closure as the angle becomes smaller tha.n 20. For one to compare different angles, it is convenient to have a grading system. The folloWing descriptive classification includes numeric grades of angles for convenience in recording on office charts. The mo~t widely open angle is a Grade 4, and a closed angle is Gra.de 0 (Reels I-I. 1-2, I-4, and 1-5). Thore are some very narrOW an~Les in which it is impossible io decide wnether or not an opening exiats between the iris root. |
