Abstract This work was planned to study the prevalence of carotid atherosclerosis in patient with coronary heart disease, and to evaluate the strong predictors of carotid affection in them (as age, sex, smoking, diabetes, dyslipidaemia and coronary artery disease). In this study 128 patients with chest pain evaluated for CAD through coronary angiography. After coronary angiography and exclusion of patient without CAD, the patient with positive coronary angiography (102 patients) underwent carotid duplex, where this patients classified into two groups as regard carotid duplex: Group A: Patients with positive coronary angiography and negative carotid duplex (74 patients). Group B: Patients with positive coronary angiography and positive carotid duplex (28 patients). All individuals were subjected to the following investigations: 1- Full clinical examination with special concentration on the cardiovascular system. ______________________________________ Summary & Conclusion ________________________________________________________ -89- 2- Laboratory examination including total lipid profile, fasting and postprandial blood sugar and serum creatinine. 3- Standard surface 12- ECG. 4- Echocardiography. 5- Duplex carotid ultrasonography. |
