Abstract The Mediterranean fruit fly Ceratitis capitata (Wiedmann), iptera: Trypetidae) is consider to be one of the most economically important and serious pests in orchards in A.R.E. Some biological and ecological aspects were investigated to provide better knowledge of the biology, ecology, seasonal hstory and control of this insect. The present study includes: Biological studies on Med. fly. Effect of artrficial diets on Med-fly development: Three different sources of carbohydrate, sucrose, glucose and molasses were studied as diets for rearing this insect. Insect was reared continuously for 16 successive generations under laboratory conditions (temp 25 + 2 CO 72 3% R.H and continuous light). |
