Abstract Nowadaya , the applications of digital terrain models data ara covering many fields. Earthworks and construction of contour maps are among such applications. In fact, the accuracy of the D.T.M. depends mainly on the method of sampling, the features of the terrain relief and the method of interpolation. For this reason 144 significant points ib four different part6s (of different terrain reliefs) and 36 points in each part, in the topofgraphic map of Abu-Ghalaga mining area, Eastern Desert, Egypt were u8sed to construct the surface maps from D.T.M. data. Linear, Logarithmic, polynomial and Multiquadric functions are adopted for this work. Sixty test points in each part were used to compare the four models. The results clearly show that the Multiquadric function is tjhe best one as regards to some statistical parameters. Reconstruction of contour maps with a few number of significant points, tri-axial representation of the surfaces as well as the estimation of the earthwork volumes computations can be extended for the estimation of groundwater quantities at El-Kharge, Western Desert, Egypt. |
