Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out at Rice Research and Training Center (RRTC), Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt during 1999 and 2000 seasons to study eight of rice cultivars {Oryza sativa L.) namely, Giza 176, Giza 177, Giza 178, Giza 182, Sakha 101, Sakha 102, Sakha 103 and Sakha 104 from (lie viewpoint of their performance, grain quality, the occurrence and the severity of spreading of both insect pests and diseases, under four different nitrogen rates namely zero, 48, 96 and 144 kg N/ha. Split plot design with four replications was used. The four nitrogen levels were arranged in the main plots while the eight rice cultivars were arranged in the subplots. The planting date was May 15th in both seasons. The transplanting was done 30 days after sowing. The results obtained can be summarized .
